Last week, I had the privilege of joining the Windsor Leadership facilitation team, on one of their unique leadership programmes. They work with emerging and strategic leaders, but also they provide amazing women-only programmes as well.
The programme takes place at Windsor Castle — a setting that might conjure up images of privilege and exclusivity — but in truth, Windsor Leadership brings together women from every sector and background: business, public service, education, faith, non-profit and beyond. What unites them is not status, but purpose.
The Windsor approach is refreshingly different. There are no PowerPoints, no models, no theories. Instead, the experience revolves around dialogue — open, honest conversations about the challenges of leading in complex times. Participants explore not only what it means to lead others, but also what it means to lead themselves.
The Power of a Women-Only Space

Over the years, I’ve seen first-hand how women-only environments can create something truly special — a sense of psychological safety that allows for deeper honesty and vulnerability. In mixed groups, even the most confident leaders often feel an unconscious pressure to maintain composure, to show strength, or to minimise aspects of their experience.
But in a women-only space, something shifts. Layers drop. There’s laughter, recognition, and sometimes tears. Conversations move quickly to the heart of what it really feels like to lead as a woman — the juggling, the self-doubt, the balancing of authenticity with expectation.
This is where true growth happens. When women can explore their leadership in an environment free from comparison or judgement, they access the depth of their own wisdom. They discover that their power does not come from emulating dominant models of leadership, but from embracing who they are — wholly and unapologetically.
Finding the Female Edge
This theme — of leading from authenticity rather than conformity — is one I explore in my book The Female Edge. For too long, women have been encouraged to “fit in”, to adapt to systems and expectations that were not designed with them in mind. But authentic leadership doesn’t come from mimicry. It comes from alignment — from the courage to show up as yourself, not as a version of what leadership has historically looked like.
In the Women in Leadership programme, this truth is lived, not just discussed. Through dialogue, reflection, and connection, participants find the freedom to redefine what leadership means for them.
My Own Commitment
This is also why I continue to volunteer my time with Windsor Leadership and why, in my own coaching practice, I’ve developed programmes that support women in finding and expressing their authentic leadership edge. Because when women lead from a place of truth, the ripple effect extends far beyond their teams or organisations — it shapes culture, challenges bias, and ultimately helps build a more balanced, humane society.
If you are seeking a transformative experience that will stretch your thinking, deepen your self-awareness, and connect you with an extraordinary community of women leaders, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Women in Leadership programme from Windsor Leadership.
